Thank you for requesting information about our Bahamas Fishing, Diving, & Vacation Packages. We’ve put together this packet to provide as much information as possible about the entire experience. Please do not hesitate to call with any questions regarding your Bahamian adventure and be sure to check out our web site for more information. Please note, we do our best to keep information in this letter up to date, but things are always subject to change in the Islands. Be sure to call for current information.

We have boats available in the Abacos from November through July. For a limited time, usually in the Spring, we will be fishing the familiar waters of San Salvador, Rum Cay, Cat Island, Crooked Island and Diana Bank. If you would like to fish the Southern Bahamas, please contact 6-9 months in advance, so we can plan accordingly. We plan to spend approximately 6 weeks in these waters, so we have room for about 6-10 groups. We will customize your trip to suit all your needs. As always, we keep our schedule somewhat flexible in order to allow us to match our boat location with our customer’s needs and also to maximize our catch as fishing heats up in one location or cools in another. Our boats are always available for weekly charter and can travel anywhere in the Islands anytime of the year.

We are currently using Low Profile & Over Under our world class 55′ & 54′ Sportfish Boats.  These boats are very clean, and professionally maintained. Amenities such as marine air-conditioning systems, bathroom facilities, living quarters, and galleys are all modern, fully equipped and in excellent condition. These boats are well suited for family cruises, corporate outings, major fishing tournaments, or just a fun day on the water with friends and family. Full details and photographs are available on our web-site www.overundercharters.com and references are available upon request.

OVER UNDER is our flagship, 54’ Bertram, which has undergone a major renovation and will return to action in 2024 / 2025, has three staterooms and three heads (two private), making it a great choice for your live-aboard vacation. Both vessels are fully equipped and set-up for extended cruising, living aboard, snorkeling and free diving, and of course, catching lots of fish!

To keep pricing very simple, we are flat rating our Bahamas Charters at $10,000 a week, plus expenses. This base rate includes the boat, crew, bait, tackle and use of the boat every day of your vacation. Dockage is included at our base port, however, should you wish to travel to other islands, dockage charges will apply. Not included are fuel, accommodations, food, drinks & gratuity. Over Under Adventures can arrange for all of these items at your request. Shorter term trips, packages with Treasure Cay Resort, and Hawks Nest Resort are also available. Live-aboard trips and mothership bonefishing is also available in the Abacos. It is customary to tip your crew 15-20% of the total cost (including expenses) of your charter at the end of your trip.

The Abacos

The OVER UNDER is currently docked at Bakers Bay Marina & Resort located on Guana Cay. This is a brand new facility and said to be the largest & nicest marina/resort in the Bahamas. We are a frequent visitor at Treasure Cay Resort & Marina, where we run the majority of our Bahamas Fishing Trips these days. When in Marsh Harbour we will be docked at the Conch Inn & Marina, which is centrally located, providing a convenient gateway to all of the activities located in nearby Man-O-War Cay, Hopetown, Guana Cay, Elbow Cay, Green Turtle Cay, Treasure Cay and Little Harbour. There is also daily ferry service to most of these nearby Islands, for those who decide not to venture out on the boat for the day.

San Salvador, Rum Cay, Cat Island, Diana Bank

As we have for the last six years Over Under Adventures will once again be fishing the awesome waters of the South East Bahamas when the prime-time bite rolls into action. We have slimmed our season down to about 6weeks. We are offering live-aboard trips, resort based trips, or a combination of the two. Everything can be customized to the customer’s preferred trip itinerary. Again, flat rate pricing keeps it simple and allows us to do what the customer wants at the most affordable price. The full week rate is $10,000, plus expenses . This rate includes daily use of the boat for fishing, diving, and exploring. Shorter term packaged trips with accommodations landside are also available.

We only have a small number or slots available for the Southern Bahamas each year. Please contact us early if you’d like to explore these waters.

Offshore Trolling : Best bet for BIG WAHOO with OUA, is April in the Southern Bahamas. Winter in the Abacos will also provide excellent opportunities to target Wahoo. Spring is the best all around fishing time for Wahoo, Tuna, Dolphin, and Billfish. Late May and early June is typically the best time to target Blue Marlin. The Summer offers an opportunity to really focus in on the Blue Marlin and Yellowfin Tuna, and as the waters begin to cool back off in the Fall, all species should be available, including Wahoo in November.

Bottom Fishing : Bottom fishing can be good year round. We have had some exceptional trips targeting Mutton Snapper and BIG Yellowtails on the Full Moons in May and June. The best Mutton Snapper fishing is at night, but we can target these fish during the day also. Grouper can be found year-round, and off the edge Yellow-Eye Snapper, Queen Snapper, and Black Snapper can typically be found in good numbers.

Snorkeling & Free-Diving : The Bahamas offer some of the best snorkeling and diving found anywhere. Beautiful reefs can be found in as shallow as five feet, or as deep as the edge of the wall in 70 feet. Spear Fishing is something that we are equipped and set-up to do. Spear fishing in the Bahamas is all free-diving, so no tanks allowed. The main target species is grouper and lobster (in season). If scuba diving is on your agenda, just let us know. It is awesome here and we can arrange for a guided wall dive with a local dive operator.

* Fuel: Count on 50 to 80 gallons a day for a normal day of fishing and 100 to 150 gallons a day for longer range cruising. Diesel is currently at $6.50 per gallon in the Bahamas.
* Rooms: $200 per night at Riding Rock on San Salvador and $200 per night at Treasure Cay Resort
* Meals : Budget $50 per person, per day and you should be covered.
* Drinks: See our shopping list below
* Flights: Please contact Over Under for charter quotes or consult your airline. Bahamas Air flies daily to San Salvador and many airlines service Marsh Harbor including Continental.
* Customary Gratuity : Standard Day Fishing: $300 per day , Live-Aboard, Cruising, Excursion: $450 per day

Number of people allowed on charters

We can legally accommodate up to six people on our boats at any one time. This does NOT mean that your group is limited to six people, so long as only six people fish on any given day. For live-aboard cruising trips, we request you to keep the group size to four or less. Special arrangements can certainly be made for larger parties and we do have access to additional boats if more than one sport fishing vessel is required. We are able to offer more competitive pricing for larger groups, as the cost of many of our expenses are fixed and can thus be split amongst more people.

Bahamas Customs

In the Bahamas, all guests must clear Bahamas Customs. A valid PASSPORT is required for all person traveling to and from the Bahamas. US currency is readily accepted in the Bahamas.

Flights to the Islands

As the cost of air charters have greatly increased, we are using scheduled service via major airlines for most of our vacations. Below are airlines that service the Islands we frequent. Private Air-Charter via Fort Lauderdale, Miami, or Nassau is always available. Please call us for a quote.

Weather, Dress & What to Bring

From January to July the weather in the Bahamas can range from the low to mid 70’s to the upper 80’s. Be sure to bring a sweater/sweatshirt and a pair of long pants for the evening. Otherwise, normal “summer” attire, with a lightweight long sleeve shirt is recommended for sun protection & the bugs. If going ashore, the island/evening dress code is very casual and shorts and a nice shirt are acceptable for dinner. Be sure to bring sun tan lotion, sunglasses, sneakers, bug spray, a hat, motion sickness medication, a bathing suit, and a beach towel.

What We Provide

Over Under Adventures will provide all necessary fishing gear, as well as diving masks, snorkels, and fins. The resorts have scuba diving equipment available for rent and conduct guided wall and reef dives. On the island we can arrange for local guides to take you bone fishing. We ask that you please advise us if these activities are of interest so that we can make proper arrangements in advance of your arrival.

What is there to do besides Fishing, Snorkeling, & Diving?

Relax! Sit by the pool and soak in the sunshine or have a drink at one of the local bars. Snorkeling, swimming and beachcombing these remote beaches are also popular especially in the late afternoons. Sightseeing, shopping, and exploring the local towns are always a fun way to spend an afternoon or morning.

Bahamas Fishing Calendar

November is the beginning of the Bahamas wahoo fishing season, dolphin are still around and shots at billfish are definitely possible.  Billfish include white and blue marlin as well as sailfish. Often times, we get the most numbers of Wahoo in the later part of November.

December is getting into peak wahoo season, and as usual dolphin are always around.  This is probably the last likely chance at a marlin in the Bahamas, until spring time. The weather is typically still reasonably settled, making this a good bet for Family Trips before the winter cold fronts set in.

Wahoo, Wahoo, Wahoo!  By now the wahoo are starting to get rather large.  Shots at sailfish in the winter are not out of the question. Wahoo fishing in the Bahamas is now peaking!

Wahoo still going strong, but yellowfin and dolphin are becoming more prevalent. This is your best shot at catching a really large wahoo in the Bahamas.

The main wahoo bite comes to an end while dolphin and tuna bites, as well as shots at billfish start to dominate. Early March is still a great time to come chase after world class Wahoo.

April is traditionally the beginning of the yellowfin tuna bite. Still good chances for wahoo bites, and billfish are starting to show up more regularly. April is a great all round time to charter a boat in the Bahamas. Probably one of the best months for ACTION!

May is the most popular time for Bahamas Fishing. The Yellowfin going strong and the dolphin bite peaks. Blue and white marlin are now around in good numbers. If you are looking to go Blue Marlin fishing in the Bahamas late May is an ideal time to visit.

Blue marlin bite in full swing with multiple shots likely, yellowfin still around in good numbers, while the dolphin bite will begin to cool off. Probably one of the best times of year for all around good weather, good fishing, variety and plenty of action. A great time for a Bahamas Family Boating Vacation

Fishing between the Full and the New Moons the end of June into the middle of July should produce the best blue marlin fishing of the year. Yellowfin are still around and dolphin should continue to be available, although not as much as in May or June. Probably the best bet for your family vacation.

Once again, as the moon rolls around, August will provide another excellent chance to target Blue Marlin in the Southern Bahamas, and the bottom fishing on the reef is excellent. Lobster season opens August, 1 every year too!

Special Note Regarding Bahamas Charter Boats

The government of the Bahamas requires that all Bahamas Charter Boats, both domestic and foreign, obtain a Bahamas Charter Boat license. A prerequisite to obtaining this license is an official inspection of the charter boat to be licensed, as well as licensing of all crew that will operate the charter boat. Over Under Adventures complies fully with all Bahamas charter boat regulations. Whether or not you decide to fish with Over Under, we urge you to inquire about the vessel’s compliance with these regulations.
