Ocean City Maryland & New Jersey Fishing Report

Weekly Wrap-Up August 5th, 2007

This week in both Ocean City and New Jersey, the fishing was fair at best. The Bluefin continue to be around around the 20 fathom curve, both just inside and just offshore of it. Masseys, the 19 Fathom Lump, Hambone, and Chicken Bone are all still holding fish, but the bite is much slower than it was a couple weeks ago. On our best days we are now getting 6-8 Bluefin Bites. On our slow days we are getting only a couple. On the days which we've ventured further offshore, things have been worse. We ran our second overnight trip this week, only to be shut out overnight in the Lindenkohl Canyon (except for a bunch of dolphin), and only had 3-4 yellowfin bites on the troll. THATS RIGHT had one decent day, managing to put 3 yellowfin in the boat, fishing just offshore of the Hot Dog, but those fish were gone the next day. So all we can say is that things can only get better. As the moon fades some more this week, we would expect both the day time and night time bite to improve. The Bluefin action has been either on the chunk from 5-8am or on the troll throughout the day.
