In Florida we fish both daytime and nighttime for Swordfish. Our day Swordfish Trips target swords in 1500 to 2000' of water and we fish on the bottom! Squid, Mackeral, Blue Runners all make great bait and we have several differnt rigs that we use to fish on the bottom of the Gulf Stream. At night, we drift from South to North, with the current, positioning our baits down 300' to the surface, employing lights to attract the swordfish to the boat.
In the MD and NJ Canyons, we nightime fish for Swordfish all Summer and Fall, with Fall being the most productive time to go after them. While daytime swordfishing in the canyons has not caught on, our crews are well versed in the technique and would love to do some dedicated daytime swordfishing trips this Summer and Fall.
